In Southwest Louisiana, we are seeing more and more cases of people who have COVID-19-19 or the coronavirus.  The stay-at-home order was extended for Louisiana by the governor yesterday through April 30, 2020.

In an effort to contain the virus and to help folks with symptoms, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) announced drive-thru testing will resume today at the Burton Coliseum and run through Thursday.

People wishing to be tested can begin lining up at 8:30am each morning and the testing will continue through 3:30pm each day.

According to Tom Hoefer with the CPPJ, the criteria for you to be tested are:

  • Fever 100.4 or greater
  • Have a cough or shortness of breath

Persons not meeting the eligibility requirements will not be tested. A maximum of two people per vehicle can be tested and both must be in the front seats.  No restrooms will be available and there are no pets allowed.

A total of only 130 tests per day can be performed. If you miss the testing the next three days, testing is also scheduled for next week from Tuesday, April 7 through Thursday, April 9, 2020.
