In honor of Halloween, here is a list of my 10 favorite Halloween movies!

No, not every scary movie is a Halloween movie! A Halloween movie has to take place during Halloween AND it doesn't necessarily have to be scary. Actually, most of my favorite Halloween movies aren't scary. My list isn't in any specific order, it's just movies that I enjoy and that get me in the Halloween spirit.

  • Hocus Pocus

What kind of person would I be if I didn't have Hocus Pocus on my list? I'm not saying it's my favorite... ehhh it might be! It's the most Halloweeny thing I can think of!! This movie is a classic, it's not offically Halloween until The Sanderson Sisters grace your tv screen.

  • House of 1,000 Corpses

This movie scared the $#!+ out of me! My fiance, Garrett, made me watch it recently and I was not a happy camper haha!! I'm glad I saw it, because it's definitely a great scary Halloween movie, but I seriously had nightmares after watching it. Not ok. If you are looking for a good scary movie to watch tonight DEFINITELY watch House of 1,000 Corpses.

  • Casper

I could watch this movie on repeat. I don't know why, but I love it... all year long. This is technically a Halloween movie, but I'll watch it any time of year because it's soooo good! Ok, maybe it's not 'soooo' good, and maybe I'm obsessed a little because I have a strange crush on Devon Sawa and wish I was a young Christina Ricci dancing with him at the end of the movie. That sounds creepy, but I swear it's not!

  • Halloween (2007)

Ok, ok, ok I know remakes are NEVER as good as the original, but I really liked the Rob Zombie Halloween remake (yep, another Rob Zombie movie I like, he's good at the scary stuff I guess). This movie takes the classic and gives it a little make over. It has everything you want in a Halloween movie, it's bloody and creepy and scary and makes you feel uncomfortable about going outside in the dark after you watch it.

  • Halloweentown

This is a Disney Channel Original Movie MASTERPIECE!!! This might be the best DCOM of all time aaaand its a Halloween movie... love it! I still watch this movie, as a 26 year old, and hope that someone will knock on my door and tell me I'm a witch and sneak me off to Halloweentown.

  • Double Double Toil & Trouble

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen + Halloween = BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!

  • Idle Hands

Oh look... another movie with Devon Sawa in it, and this time he's not a 12 year old so I can non-creepily say that I am a little obsessed with him! And Jessica Alba's in this movie, so you know it's a good one. I mean, I can't think of a better plot to a movie than a demon hand that kills people! It's genius!!!

  • Nightmare Before Christmas

This movie is awesome, because it counts as a 'holiday' movie for TWO holidays! Brilliant!! Someday I will force Garrett to be Jack Skellington for Halloween and I will be Sally. Someday.

  • Ernest Scared Stupid

First off, this movie terrified me as a child! It's not even scary!! And I'm pretty sure it's the main reason why I drink so much milk... if you don't understand that reference then you need to see this movie ASAP.

  • Sleepy Hollow

Who doesn't love the whole 'headless horseman' story! This movie is great!! Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Christopher Walken... yes, perfection.
