UPDATE: The street parade and lighting ceremony portions of the Light up the Lake Festival have both been canceled due to inclement weather. However, the boat parade, fireworks, Santa's Workshop, and Movies with the Mayor originally planned for this Friday have been rescheduled and will now take place on Saturday, December 15.

Santa's Workshop will be from 12:00pm - 3:00pm in the Civic Center Coliseum, followed by Movies with the Mayor at 3:30pm. The lighted board parade will take place at 6:00pm on the lakefront, followed by fireworks at 6:45pm.

Almost every happy thing about Christmas time begins Friday (30 November) at 6:30 pm at the Lake Charles Civic Center; Santa, fireworks, concerts, boats covered in Christmas lights, crafts and a parade will take the Scrooge out of the moodiest and grumpiest of holiday revelers.

At the risk of using a well-traveled cliche,' we'll say this is The Event that's really going to be fun for the entire family. Brew up some hot chocolate and come on out.

The parade through downtown steps off at 6:30 and by 7:30 on the front lawn of the Civic Center the lighting will take place. Then we'll all go out to the backyard of the complex for the Lighted Boat Parade at 8:15 and finish with a spectacular firework show over the lake at 8:45 pm.
