It'll be a change of pace for the 2019 squad to see strangers faces across the net tomorrow in Ruston. Inter-squad scrimmages have marked Cowgirl practices for the past three weeks so far for 2019, and McNeese head coach Ashleigh Fitzgerald for one is ready.

We are excited to see someone else across the net in Ruston this weekend. We played Louisiana Tech in the spring and we know they will play with a ton of grit and enthusiasm, so we will have to match their intensity level said Fitzgerald.

Regular workouts have been going on nearly three weeks, tomorrow's tune-up helps prepare the team for the season opener at the Robert Morris Sheraton Invitational next weekend August 30-31. Then the Cowgirls open the home season in the new H&HP Complex 3 September against Houston.

Fitzgerald plans to experiment with a few line-up changes during tomorrow's scrimmage for different effects and game strategies. The coach said Our staff has been pretty pleased with practice so far.  The level of competition is higher than it has been in years past, but you just don't know what kind of team you are and what you need to work on until you play someone else. We are going to play a few different lineups to see what works and what doesn't work, and then we'll just set about making a few tweaks before our season officially kicks off Labor Day weekend in Pittsburgh.

If you're up for a little road trip tomorrow to Ruston, first serve is at 1 pm.
